Dear Coaches,

Thank you for your interest in the 11th annual California Relays track and field meet set for Friday-Saturday, March 21-22, 2014. The California Relays are held at Cerritos College.  Cerritos College is the home the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Divisional finals and Master’s meets.  It is located located approximately 18 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles and 14 miles northwest of Disneyland.   Since its Inaugural meet in 2004, the California has grown to be one of top meets in California

On-line meet registration is now open at Episports.com.  Please carefully review the outlined areas below to familiarize yourself with all the key details for this year’s meet:

MEET FORMAT:  The California Relays is a high school meet that takes place under National High School Federation rules and those of the California Interscholastic Federation. All participants must represent their high school and compete in their high school uniform.

The California Relays are held on Friday night and continuing on Saturday morning.  There will be two divisions of the meet: large and small school divisions.  The sections are divided according to Southern Section divisions.  Divisions 1 and 2 will be large schools and Divisions 3 and 4 will be small schools.  Small schools are permitted to run in the large school section but must do so for two consecutive years before dropping back down.

ALL RELAYS ENTERED WILL BE ACCEPTED!  Individual events will be limited to the top verified marks.  Each school will be allowed to enter three entrants per event to allow for the great number of participants into the meet.  The California Relays offers Frosh/Soph relays.  There will be additional relays offered for the varsity section of the California Relays: 4×200, 4×800, 4xMile, 1600m sprint medley and Distance Medley relay.  The Frosh/Soph relays will consist of: 4×100, 4×200, 4×400, 4×800, 800m sprint medley ad Distance medley relay.

TIME SCHEDULE:  The two-day meet runs as follows: Friday from 4:30 to 8: p.m., Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The meet runs on a strict time schedule.

EVENTS OFFERED:  100m | 200m | 400m | 800m | 1600 | 3200 | High Hurdles | 300m Hurdles | 4×100 | 4×200 | 4×400 | 4×800 | 4×1600 | 1600m Sprint Medley | Distance Medley | LJ | TJ | HJ | PV | SP | Discus.

For Saturday’s session, there are up to two heats per event in most track events. The top nine verified entry marks will automatically compete in the faster heat of the lane races.

Athletes must qualify for the 100 and 100/110H by running the prelims on Friday.   If an athlete competes in both the trials and final in an event that has a qualifying round, that will count as only ONE event toward the four maximum that the meet rules allow.

Athletes may compete in a maximum of 4 different events during the two-day meet.

School entry fees for 2014 are as follows:

Individual Varsity entries: $35 per relay and $15 per individual entry Individual Frosh/Soph entries: $20 per relay

*****VERY IMPORTANT!*****

DECLARE YOUR SCHOOL/REGISTER YOUR ATHLETES ON-LINE AT EPI SPORTS

Only athletes entered via the online process at Episports.com will be considered for entry into the meet. No faxed or emailed entries will be considered. Please do the following:

1) Coaches must create an EPISports.com account for their school by logging on to: Episports.com.  If you have an account from last year, you can use that account. If not, please create a new one.  Create your own username (which is your email address) and your own password (which only you will know). Please save this password.

(2) Only one coach per team (preferably the head coach) should have an EPISports.com account for use with the California Relays. Having more than one coach inputting athlete names and marks creates database problems with multiple accounts, repeated, unauthorized, or conflicting entries, etc. and will be grounds for having ALL marks by that school being deleted from the database. Again, only ONE coach per team should be responsible for handling the declaration and registration process for the California Relays.

(3) Upon successfully creating your EPI Sports.com account, follow the on-line steps provided there to declare your school to compete at California Relays.

(4) Once you successfully declare, you will be given a link which contains all directions regarding entry procedures.

Coaches must adhere to all deadlines!
